Built from 1937-1947, the Piper J-3 Cub was built by Piper Aircraft. The plane had tandem seating, front and back seats, and was intended for flight training. It became, however, one of the best-known and most popular light aircraft of all time. It has been compared to the Fort Model T. The Cub’s standard color was yellow, and often referred to as “Lock Haven yellow” in honor of the Pennsylvania town where it was built.
