I Love Lucy, the television situation comedy starting Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley, ran from 1951 through 1957 and was the most-watch show in the United States four of its six seasons. It was the first television show in history to end its run at the top of the ratings. Its honors included five Emmy Awards. Set in New York City, the show was built around Lucy Ricardo, her bandleader husband, and their friends and landlords.
