The Eohippus is considered the first horse and first remains were discovered in England in 1838. Nearly 30 years later, scientists discovered a complete skeleton while excavating rock in southern United States. Remains can be found in the Wind River Basin of Wyoming and the Wasatch range of Utah. Eohippus was a descendent of the Condylarth,a five-toed creature about the size of a dog, that lived 75 million years ago. The Eohippus stood about 12-14 inches high and weighed about 12 pounds.
